DESCRIPTION: APW - Rockford, with rare 24 hour dial and mvt making one hour hand revolution per day, 11-15J, 18S, gold-filled drum style OF G.W. Ladd recase with attractive engine turning and engraving detail including lower rear with an idyllic lakeside home scene set against a mountainous background, white enamel SS dial with 1 to 24 hour numerals staggered with separate chapters for even and odd numerals, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#97551. A rare and very attractive dial, we have observed this 24 hour style dial primarily among early production Rockford examples such as this. From the collection of Dr. Robert Restuccia.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running with small error to flat of balance motion, plates with darkened gilt tone, scratch between hairspring stud and adjacent plate screw, plates with ultra-fine scratch striations likely from wiping, some oxide to steelwork; dial with scattered faint hls, very small edge flakes at 5, light circular line of rub within seconds-register from tail of hand; fine hands, minute with portions of finish loss, seconds-hand appears to have shellac on its surface at center; case shows little wear, scattered dings and denting to rear and cuvette, some nicks and dings to band and bezel, good engine turning and engraving detail; tight brassy bow; glass crystal with few internal edge flakes and glue excess at its seat.
